This is the first time i’ve seen this game played. The game looks a little corny but looks like it plays very smoothly.

This was a DS review taken off an article on planetgamecube.com
Tony Hawk games have something of a reputation on Nintendo’s handhelds. Pro Skater 2 was an excellent GBA launch title, and American Sk8Land paired cel-shaded graphics with the best early implementation of Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection for the DS. Now the series is taking a new direction –literally– with Downhill Jam. Unfortunately, the racing aspects don’t always get along with Tony’s trick-heavy roots.
In many respects, the game is similar to EA’s popular SSX snowboarding franchise. You race in mostly urban environments on linear tracks with ample shortcuts, all the while performing tricks to build up a boost meter that helps you zoom into the lead. At least, that’s how it should be. The few racing missions are quite enjoyable, even challenging, but additional goals like “Knock over eight trash cans” or “Grind 2000 feet” are boring, moronic, and easy. And since there are only six levels, the last of which is a short remake from the original Pro Skater game, these non-racing missions are used to pad out the bulk of the game. Whether you’re playing in the World Tour mode, which is laced with a thin, weakly humorous story, or the old-school Jam Session mode, which asks you to complete classic Tony Hawk goals like finding the secret tape, Downhill Jam is rarely about the racing. It’s absurd because the actual racing gameplay already incorporates speed, tricks, and exploration. There’s no reason to dissect these elements and make us play them again in isolation, where they aren’t nearly as much fun.

Its now officially a week until the Wii and out of all the games there are at launch, I’m really digging Excite Truck! I Havn’t got around to playing it at a Wii Demo Kiosk because the closest one is almost an hour away but from what ive seen and heard it looks insane. Dough Boy has got the chance to play it at the Nintendo Fusion Tour and also at his nearest GameStop. He says its a great arcade racer and the controlls are awesome. Dough Boy will hopefully be going out once again today to his nearest GameStop to play Excite Truck, but this time take a few pictures and maybe even make a video. I really can’t wait for this game to comeout… It’s starting to bug me!

As you may, or may not have known. Some big game sites such as IGN, 1UP, Gonintendo, Kotaku and others have actually got their Wiis delivered to them a week before launch! As I was browsing Gonintendo I came across an article RawMeatCowboy wrote up.
TEN THINGS YOU MAY NOT HAVE KNOWN ABOUT THE Wii
1. It doesn’t play CDs, but it plays AVIs off your digital camera’s SD card.
2. The flaps that protect the Gamecube controllers and memory card slots are removable.
3. Wii Sports includes training and workout modes.
4. You can let one remote control all four players in Wii Sports: Tennis.
5. It takes five pieces of heart to make a heart container in Zelda: Twilight Princess
6. The box includes two clear plastic holders: one for the sensor bar and another that acts as a stabilizer for the thick, gray console stand
7. When used as a pointer, the Wii detects how far the remote is from the sensor bar.
8. The system keeps track of your cumulative play time for all games, and logs it on your Wii’s daily message board.
9. The standard A/V cables that have worked on every Nintendo system since the SNES do not work on the Wii (the system-side input is different)
10. The system doubles as a great whiteboard.
Pretty interesting stuff, I was hoping for CD Playback though but thats alright I guess.
